Who We Are

Our mission is to create and implement a hospitable relationship between the EU community and prisons, youth detention centers, and half-way houses, as well as advocating and educating others on prison injustices.
Our vision is to foster empathy, understanding, and knowledge about prisoners and those affected by incarceration.

What We Do

We have various outing in which we meet people affected by the prison system and support them through fellowship and spending time with them. Some of our outings include going to a youth detention center and a halfway house. 

• Plan (on campus) and participate in a variety of prison ministry opportunities throughout the week (many occur every other Friday from 3:45pm-9:30pm as we go to the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center).

• Music and/or speaking skills preferred, but not required. Students must be 18 or older and have no relatives in the House of Corrections. Cannot wear jewelry, hooded sweatshirts, or open toed shoes.

 

Requirements:

  • volunteer application
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
  • Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check
  • Federal Criminal History Record Check (FBI Fingerprinting) OR Affidavit of PA Residency for 10+ years
